Mike Bliss will practice the #51 on Thursday while Landon Cassill is at the National Education Association convention in Chicago.

Finch isn't even trying to hide that he wants Bliss back in his car, does he?

I'm trying to chalk that up to nothing more than Landon having a prior commitment and Finch going with someone he's familiar with for practice, but honestly, I think Landon's days in that car have been numbered for a while now. With this being a plate race, Finch is probably in his infamous "anything less than a win = you're fired" mindset.

The NEA thing is a sponsor commitment, I'm pretty sure.

I'm pretty sure the rules state that GOGH drivers are determined by owner points if qualifying is rained out, not practice speed.

There was a rule change bro.If both quals and practice are rained out then it goes by owner points / attempts

The rule change has NOTHING to do with who gets in the race.  It has to do with how those that are in the race get lined up in case of a rain out.  The race entrants, for non-top 35 teams, are still the same as they have been for awhile in regards to a qualifying rain out...previous race winners by team and driver, champions, event champions, attempts and points.

Laying back on the Superspeedways doesn't exist anymore. You'll get lapped if you try it. Look at what happened to Kvapil at Talladega.

Also, Bodine will have to lay down a good lap in practice, because there's a 60% chance of rain Friday.

Kvapil started the race in a full blown qualifying trim and had to go to the garage on lap 4 or something to switch over to race trim...It can work if the cars are good enough.Hate to be referring to the #36 again but they were doing that with the #29 and could catch up when they wanted to.

But its interesting what you said about Bodine. I wonder if the GOGH cars will try to get in the draft to sneak out a quick lap in case quals are cancelled?

Doesn't matter if he practices better than everyone else or not...he'll still miss the race.  Dover was rained out and the #81/Scott Riggs went home although they were the 2nd fastest of the GOGH cars in qualifying.

They need to move Cup qualifying to another time. If it rains Friday, that'll be the 3rd year in a row that qualifying is a wash and the 4th time in 5 years.

Boris Said would agree with that!  Heartbreaking being on the provisional pole after 75% of the field qualifies and then have to go home because it rained.

Bleh, don't remind me about that one. I still think that's one of the biggest (and most overlooked) debacles in NASCAR history.

Second. Practically half of the Top 6 in that session DNQ'd. Said was on the pole, Jeremy Mayfield was 3rd or 4th, and I believe Michael Waltrip was 6th.

Also, I can't remember if it was that year or 2006, but there was a sudden sunshower during J.J Yeley's lap that really screwed with him.

By the way, just a note on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s comments on the (Ugh) Two-Car Draft, I actually found myself drawing a parallel.

Dale Earnhardt Sr., on the 2000 Restrictor Plate Aero Package and the racing it produced

Quote
''That's the worst racing that I've seen at Daytona in a long, long time. They took NASCAR Winston Cup Racin' and made it some of the sorriest racing. They took the racin' out of the driver's and the crew's hands, we can't adjust, we can't make our cars drive like we want....They just killed the racing at Daytona. That's all I got to say. Mr. Bill France Sr'd probably be rollin' over in his grave if he'd seen that deal!''

Dale Earnhardt Jr., on the Two-Car Draft after the Spring race at Talladega

Quote
''“I don’t enjoy the two-car draft because when I push somebody I can’t see around him. And I would like to be in control of my own destiny all the time; be in control and be able to win the race. I was happy to push Jimmie to the win, but in a perfect world, me and him both would rather just be racing our own cars and not have to worry about being obligated to push anyone to the win. You want to drive your own car across the finish line and that’s the way it ought to be. I thought it was a lottery five years ago, [But] good Lord, it’s ridiculous now.”

And more bluntly, over the radio during the Nationwide race at Talladega:

Quote
''I loveing hate this candy.''

Like father, like son?

Was looking at Nascar.com's entry list and it seems like the #81 withdrew.

Edwards says there's zero grip down there, and it's probably because there's still moisture.

We're going to kill somebody racing like this.

Looking at the board, the 2 tandems to beat Saturday night are the $$$ duo (31 & 33) and the Penske Pair (2 & 22).

Out of curiosity, has anyone made a ''Talk to me, Goose'' quip on the radio yet?
