Does anyone else get the feeling we may be seeing Germain's last race as a truck team, if not Germain's last race period?

I think that's a bit presumptuous. They've secured sponsorship for Mears in Cup, and they said they should be able to support a Truck team for Bodine.

They already mentioned that the reason GEICO is pulling their Truck sponsorship is so that they can bring their Cup sponsorship up to 25+.

As for Sauter being in a Dodge, Crafton, Armstrong, and Kimmel are listed in Chevys. It's probably just an entry list mistake.

I think Germain having Geico for part of the Cup season creates about as many problems as it solves.  How to fill in the blanks, how to maintain points, how to be a competitive single-car organization.  There are too many other better teams out there lacking for sponsorship.  I know MWR has brought up the idea of "other drivers" filling in the remainder of the season with 5-Hour unwilling to do the full deal with Clint Bowyer, I could easily see Geico and Casey going here.  There is also the possibility if Red Bull remains in some capacity they may take Casey aboard.  I'm not putting a lot of stock in that "Deal with the Indians Native Americans" announced earlier, It sounded odd from the get-go, and no details have emerged. Nothing further.

On the Truck Side, the whole RMM/Germain "merger" deal struck me as desperate measures by desperate men.  I think the Germains have now officially fallen out of love with racing enough not to keep putting their own money in.  Whether it was PR Puffery or a genuine threat, saying they weren't bringing the 30 to Iowa sits in the same boat.  On a performance side, Gernain went from a Championship season to now winning a single race (barring what occurs at Homestead).  Lofton took his marbles and left, it sounds like Brendan is doing the same, Geico already anounced their exit, there went the three solid full-season sponsors for the organization.

Germain's already made the State-mandated layoff warning, I'm thinking it's allll over.

Where did you read that MWR is considering putting another driver with Boywer to fill the sponsorship out? I highly doubt Clint would go there is that was even an option.

Here's the deal, I believe Michael Waltrip was talking about #00 car, with Mark Martin running limited amount of races next season, then Mikey will run however amout of races, then fill out the rest of the schedule with other drivers with sponsors, nothing to do with Clint Bowyer and the 5 Hour deal.

It's a shame that five trucks quick enough to make the race on speed get knocked out because of the rain. I think NASCAR needs to rethink its rainout procedure. Perhaps only the cars/trucks who have attempted every race and are outside of a locked-in position (in this case the #57) should be given a spot in the race, with the rest of the field set by the fastest practice speeds.

Doesn't look good for tonight's race. It's raining persistently and it's showing no signs of stopping.

Austin Dillon deserved to win the championship and I'm glad he won, but the title should not be determined by a Deus Ex Machina.

The salt in the wound is that it stopped raining immediately after NASCAR called the race. Granted, it's not as bad as when they called the Daytona 500 15 minutes into a rain delay in 2009, but still. The offseason is long and the fans deserve to see a triumphant close to the season.
