I agree Zeusian, thats why i think its OK to laugh at these now, in good fun:

Danica Patrick coming to NASCAR would be a travesty of an enormous proportion, and it would likely be the death of the sport as we know it.

Danica coming to NASCAR, in spite of what the press wants people to believe, would probably be the worst possible thing that could happen to the Nationwide Series right now. In a time where economic barriers are already massive, the last thing that the series needs is a celebrity - Which is, in essence, what Danica Patrick is. She has an air about her that makes her practically God-like, and she has the narcissistic ''I'm going to throw everyone under the bus for my own failures'' attitude to boot. She'd be bad for JR Motorsports in that not only would she demand an amount of money per race that most team owners would cry themselves to sleep wishing they had, but she would also demand the very best equipment. And who does that screw over? Kelly Bires! All of a sudden, you would have JRM throwing all their money at her, and Bires being relegated to the ''B-team'', and if worst comes to worst, he'd probably end up just running part-time.

Not to mention that the sponsor pool would become a puddle, considering the amount of companies that would probably bail ship on deals in action or in negotiation to get maximum exposure with Patrick (Because God knows that ESPN will focus on her no matter what's going on on the track - Which, in turn, devalues other teams by robbing them of crucial airtime). Do you honestly think that if Patrick came to NASCAR that sponsors would even look at somebody like Ricky Stenhouse, Mike Bliss, or J.J Yeley? No! They would go where they can get the absolute most exposure for their company.

What's even more obscene is that Patrick is so ''interested'' in NASCAR, yet has never been behind the wheel of a stock car in her life. Salo, Piquet, Trulli, and likewise have all tested cars/trucks in order to evaluate what they would like to do in terms of a move to stock cars, and that's reasonable, but Patrick wants to up and run half of the Nationwide Series? That's asinine and just begging for failure.

For now, all that people can do is just hope that these reports are, once again, just red herrings/publicity stunts. But if not...I rue the day that the #5 Godaddy.com/Boost Mobile/Savealot/D.H Griffin Companies/StopRepairBills.com/USFidelis/AccuDoc Solutions/Ridemakerz/Ventrilo/BigSpot.com/Cajun Industries/SFP/Matthew's Mobile Media Chevrolet sets foot on any racetrack.

Otherwise, she needs to stay far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, FAR away from the Nationwide Series. Period. The Nationwide Series is in a period equivalent to the end of times already, and it doesn't need to be killed any more swiftly.

But what good comes out of that exposure? Nothing. Based on the amount of money she's asking for, sponsorship rates would skyrocket if she went to NASCAR.

If Danica Patrick runs in the Nationwide Series next year, there's no telling just how many teams will fall by the wayside.

Your comments about driving up sponsorship and killing the series is a touuuuuch of an overreaction don't you think???

As a matter of fact, I don't believe I am overreacting.

Increase in driver salaries -> Increase in the amount of money a sponsor has to spend -> Increase in resources, personnel, and equipment -> Dominance by a single team -> Other teams realizing that they have a lot of catching up to do -> Team expansion, spending more money -> Increase in demand for sponsorship money -> Sponsor reluctance -> Sponsor pulls out -> Lack of sponsorship dollars -> Lack of money to pay employees -> Mass layoffs, and after a prolonged period of time with no sponsor, most teams will shut down.

I believe that the introduction of Danica Patrick combined with the implementation of the CoT will result in the death of a lot of teams, simply because the Nationwide Series will get almost as expensive as the Sprint Cup Series, and thus less appealing to interested companies.

To some yes. For me personally, I will simply not do business with any Unilever brand or vendor until Bires runs, and will not do so any other week that he is not in the 88.

I actually got told off by Kelley Earnhardt for saying that I ''won't be putting Hellmann's mayonnaise on my sandwiches anytime soon.'', in that it apparently doesn't help anything.

But yeah, I'm sticking with Boars Head until Texas (Or whenever).

Im gonna watch the race and enjoy the race and not worry about the petty bs about who they cover more or how many cup guys are in the race.

Srsly. It's racing. Plate racing at that! I've been waiting for three months. They could clone drivers, put 43 Juniors,  JWT's, and Danicas out there and I'd still watch. I'm only in it for the cars anyway.
