I tried to find the other thread about this but failed.

NASCAR to limit number of NNS races for Cup drivers; change schedule? Speaking of the Nationwide Series, teams were told in private meetings this week a change to keep Cup drivers from competing for a championship there is virtually assured for 2011. The most likely idea will be a hard cap on the amount of races drivers can compete in elsewhere in NASCAR if they're inside the top-35 in Cup points, rigidly defining a sort of minor-to-major league system. But another interesting option being discussed is making six races on the schedule virtually impossible for Cup drivers to travel to, either putting them on the same day at different tracks or creating more standalone races over 2,000 miles apart each weekend.

Once again, I'll believe it when I see it.

These reforms would be four years overdue, but the biggest hurdles NASCAR would have to face are Corporate America & the Track Promoters. It's a shame that there can't just be a Gentleman's Agreement among the Cup drivers not to flood the minor leagues. Drivers have had their careers ruined and will continue to have them ruined until the Dark Ages end, if they ever do.

If they were to limit them from competing in both I would say competing at two differnt tracks at same weekend rule for like 6 races I would be ok with

Making two races same day like Indycar/Indy Lights I like but alot of fans would not tune in saying its taking up too much of their day

Jeff Gluck says Rusty Wallace told him thier is bigger changes comming to Nwide, Rusty said he would like if Cup guys could only do 30 races in NWide and they can choose which 5 races they cant

30? More like 34. (Hey, it's not a full season, right?)

Also, Rusty needs to understand that if the Buschwhackers keep running 30+ races a year, his boy is never going to win a race.

Quite honestly, a few of those guys could possibly win the championship and still miss 5-6 races. Kyle Bush has missed a few races and he's still top 5 in points.

Well, back in the day, you had a wide variety of drivers winning in the Busch Series - Heck, Justin Labonte won a race in 2004. Under those same cirkoolaidstances nowadays, he and Mike Wallace (Who he raced with for the win) would have fallen out of the Top 10 by the time Wallace ran out of fuel.

If you ask me, there's a long list of drivers who should have wins by now, but don't - Annett, Braun, Bires, Raines, Gaughan, and that's just a few names.

My idea for limiting cup drivers in the nw series was to make those guys in the top 30 in cup points qualify on time in each event for 3 spots..so they can run try to run for the championship but it will be tough like hell to do that therefore the owners will try the other guys cause they know they will locked in if the car is in the top 30 of the nw series owner points.

You crack me up, Rowdy, "back in the day in 2004 The only difference will be driver title..the owner title will still probably go to Gibbs or RCR because they will put drivers in the 18,20, 21 etc.  The owners points will still be the same. Owner points are the most important anyway because they determine everything.

Excellent point!

They really need to add that Cup guys don't get Championship Points or even Owner Points for the team.

limit it to only 5 guys in the top 30 or 35 in cup points per nationwide race, and let them qualify agaist eachother like the the teams out of the top 30 in points do so 2 or 3 cup guys go home each week.

You can plan all you want too but if NASCAR limits it they can't stop it.
