We all know "Stock" cars aren't stock anymore.  When stock car racing started, the cars were basically right off the street with a number on the door and very few modifications.  If it were the same way now, which models would be on the track?  For the sake of this arguement, let's stick with US models.

I think you'd probably see some Cadillac CTSs, Dodge Chargers, and maybe some Mustangs.  What do you think?

It wouldn't be a very interesting series, in my mind.  I'm all for getting back to different body shapes that resemble the cars they're based on, but without serious modifications, the cars would look lost on ovals where speed is very important.  It's just not going to work in an oval-based series.

An almost-100% "stock" car series has been and is a great model for amateur SCCA road racing, though.  A professional-level oval series?  Not anymore.

I definitly agree, I just know it wouldn't be Impalas and Fusions.

IDK about cts's, they are awfully expensive compared with the chargers and mustangs so they are kinda out of place. Id say you'd see some G8's, Chargers, Mustangs. Its just hard today given the lack of rear wheel drive vehicles.

I'll bet the Chevy police cars they're planning to import (basically a G8 in Chevy clothes) would become even hotter property.  I'd like to see someone try a Mercury Grand Marquis and look at what made a Marauder a Marauder.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe?  Heresy some might say, but it's rear-drive now.

I could see a sedan series with the charger/g8(maybe caprice but given they are only available to fleets it'd be questionable)/Taurus(even though its price)/potentially genesis sedan(also pricey)... and a pony car series with the camaro/challenger/mustang/genesis coupe. Even though hyundai in NASCAR would be worse than toyota in some ways (not that I really have an issue with toyota in it.)
