CONSISTENT START TO 2012: In five NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events, Timothy Peters has collected four top-five and five top-10 finishes. Peters and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing team have put themselves in championship contention, currently sitting second in the point standings only one point out of first. The driver boasts the highest average finishing spot in the Truck Series thus far this season with a 4.6. Peters enjoys racing at the ‘Monster Mile’ and is looking to regain the Truck Series points lead with another solid finish.
CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 Red Horse Racing team will unload Chassis No. 093 this weekend at Dover International Speedway. This chassis brought Peters to the top of the points lead with a fifth-place finish at Rockingham in April. It also competed in five events during the 2011 season including Iowa Speedway, Kentucky Speedway in the fall, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway in November and at the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This chassis had its best qualifying effort at Rockingham in April with a third-place starting position and best finishing position of third in Las Vegas last season.
HOMETOWN RACE FOR CLAVELOUX: Richard ‘Dick’ Claveloux has a lot of great memories when he walks through the gates at Dover International Speedway. Originally from Magnolia, Delaware just 10 miles from the Speedway, Claveloux spent many years attending the NASCAR races. His father, Mark, a part of the Dover Police Department, would work the races when in town. Dick’s love for the sport grew when his father took him to the Speedway for the races, ultimately moving him to North Carolina. Dick has served as a tire carrier for Red Horse Racing since 2008 and became a full-time employee at the end of 2011 – with shop duties including team decal guru, tire specialist and mechanic.
COME OUT AND SEE PETERS: Peters, alongside teammates Todd Bodine and John King will head to the Camping World display in the FanZone outside turn four after practice on Friday, June 1st at 12:30 for an hour long Truck Series autograph session.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Peters entered the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 18th as the Truck Series point’s leader and left the 134-lap race just one point back in second place, after capturing a ninth-place finish. The No. 17 Tire Kingdom/Service Central Tundra started the event in the fourth position and ran a consistent race to capture yet another top-10 finish, his fifth of the season.
Timothy Peters talks about Dover International Speedway:
What is special to you about Dover?
“Dover is just a special place for me. It reminds me of Orange County Speedway which is a short track that I grew up racing on. The speeds are high and the corners are fast. The first time I went to Dover, I qualified fourth and finished sixth. I haven’t had the best finishes there since, but I always look forward to the race track.”
What is special about the name ‘Dover’ in your household?
“Well, I have a big love for animals. Since I had such a great first experience at Dover, I got a Chocolate Lab shortly thereafter and named him Dover. He is five years old and such a smart dog.”
