MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 23, 2012)- Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) announced today that All Metal Fabricators (AMF) – an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of fabricated weldments, sheet metal assemblies, specialized machinery, close tolerance assemblies, power conveyors, and general fabrications – will be the primary sponsor of Kyle Busch’s No. 51 Camry for the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. The Delaware-based company will also serve as an associate sponsor of KBM’s No. 54 Nationwide Series Camry and No. 18 Camping World Truck Series Tundra in their respective races at Dover (Del.) International Speedway in June.
Busch, a two-time winner of Hamlin’s charity race, is one of seven current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers scheduled to participate in the fifth annual event. The 100-lap race, which will be broadcast live on SPEED this Thursday, April 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET., is being held to raise awareness and funding for the specific needs of individuals afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis as well as other programs that support chronically ill children and underprivileged youth.
“We’re excited to welcome AMF as a new sponsor at KBM and look forward to building a great partnership with them,” Busch said. “Any time I can get behind the wheel of a late model, I’m going to jump at the chance — especially when it’s for a great cause like Denny’s event is. We had the race won again last year, but I decided to be a nice guest and let the host finally win one. This year, I plan to get our partnership with AMF off to a solid start by capturing my third Showdown win.”
“Sponsoring Kyle in the upcoming charity race is the perfect opportunity for us to get our feet wet in the sport and experience firsthand the benefits of being associated with a top-level NASCAR driver,” AMF Vice President Gerry Norris said. “Our partnership with Kyle Busch Motorsports will allow us to elevate the status of our brand in our core market while promoting our revamped website, goamf.com, on a national platform.”
Eric Phillips, crew chief of KBM’s No. 18 Tundra in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, will be atop the pit box calling the shots for Busch during the Short Track Showdown. The duo, who will be working together for the first time in 2012, collected 14 Truck Series victories in 32 starts during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
The KBM Super Late Model team, which will be racing a chassis provided by FNO Race Cars in Thursday night’s race, is one-for-one on the young season. Busch captured his third career SpeedFest title, leading 86 of the final 100 laps en route to victory in the 2012 event, which was held at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Ga.
