Kvapil Marks Milestone at Bristol
Statesville, N.C. (March 15, 2011) - NASCAR driver Travis Kvapil will celebrate a milestone in his Sprint Cup Series career this weekend at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway – but he’ll look a little different doing it.  The veteran driver will make his 150th Cup start at Sunday’s Jeff Byrd 500 at the famed short track, and he’ll do so with a new-look paint scheme on his No. 38 Long John Silver’s Ford.

The new design showcases the new Long John Silver’s logo, colors and tagline and replaces the familiar bright yellow-and-blue scheme that has adorned the car in recent years.

Bristol is a good place for Kvapil to celebrate his achievement.  Like many drivers, he includes the .533-mile oval among his favorites and has run well there in the past.  His best career starting position is fifth and his top finish is seventh.

Comments from Long John Silver’s driver Travis Kvapil on Bristol:

“It’s pretty cool to be in the Sprint Cup Series that long.  One hundred fifty starts is a great number.  Obviously we want to keep as many starts going as we can.  Just thinking back to the beginning of my racing career in Wisconsin and running local racetracks there, I never really dreamed I would make one Cup start, let alone 150.  So, it’s pretty special.

“I’m excited about the direction the Front Row Motorsports team is going.  We keep building every year and I feel like we’re more competitive now and even in contention to win races when we go to some places, like the restrictor-plate races or the short tracks.  And a place like Bristol is a place where we can run up front.  It would be cool to have a good run on our 150th start.

“There’s no reason why we can’t have a great run there this weekend.  We had two top-25 finishes last year, and I think with our new cars and new motors, we can definitely run even better.  Our teammate, David Gilliland, was fast there last summer.  So between our notes and his notes and our new equipment, I like our chances there.

“Bristol is going to be cool for another reason, too.  We’ll be running our new Long John Silver’s paint scheme for the first time this weekend.  Long John Silver’s has a new look, a new brand identity, and we’re going to incorporate that new look in our Sprint Cup car.  It’s sort of a turning of the page.  The old yellow-and-blue paint scheme will be gone, and we’ll have a new look with a white car with blue and yellow striping.  It looks pretty sharp.”
