McMurray wins in Atlanta!
Kasey Kahne put the Great Clips #38 on the pole for the Great Clips 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and led the field at the green. However, it only took #18 Kyle Busch four laps to catch him and snare the lead. Kahne would have none of that and battled back to take the front spot on lap 11. Lap 25 brought Busch to the top position once again, and he would lead through the first caution for debris, and up until yellow number two.
That second caution was for the #81 car spinning on lap 61, and some of the leaders would pit. The restart on lap 64 brought #88 Jamie McMurray to the front, with Busch behind. The remainder of the top-ten ran as #22 Brad Keselowski, Kahne, #60 Carl Edwards, #33 Kevin Harvick, #1 Ryan Newman, #16 Matt Kenseth, #32 Reed Sorenson, and #7 Josh Wise.
Harvick was tearing through the field on fresh tires and took the lead on lap 70. By lap 100 of the 195 lap event, Harvick had opened up a 12 second lead, and the rest of the top-ten were Busch, McMurray, Edwards, Keselowski, Newman, #12 Justin Allgaier, Kenseth, #20 Joey Logano and Kahne. Leaders would commence green flag pit stops around lap 105. Harvick came in on lap 122, relinquishing the lead to Busch. Harvick would emerge from pit road in fourth.
Lap148 brought the third caution for an incident involving Newman and #99 Trevor Bayne, and on the restart, McMurray would steam to the front, and there he stayed. The rest of the top-ten at this point ran as Busch, Harvick, Edwards, Keselowski, Logano, Kenseth, Newman, Kahne and #10 Jason Leffler.
The final yellow of the night came on lap 169 with a one-car incident for #32 Reed Sorenson. McMurray retained the lead on the restart and went on to take the checkered, followed by Busch, Edwards, Harvick, Kenseth, Logano, Leffler, Newman, Menard, and #6 Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(highest finishing rookie)
