Steve Wallace blazes to top-five in Truck Series debut

In what was his NASCAR Truck Series debut, Rusty Wallace Racing’s Steve Wallace continued his remarkable momentum this afternoon, blazing his way to a fourth-place finish in the E-Z GO 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

By doing so, Wallace became only the 25th driver in NASCAR history to score a top-five in his Truck Series debut. Wallace’s effort also marks his sixth-consecutive top-ten finish in NASCAR’s three national series, following five straight top-ten efforts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

The Toyota pilot wheeled Billy Ballew Motorsports’ No. 15 Red Top Auctions Toyota Tundra in the event and impressed many with his transition to the Truck Series platform.  Wallace remained among the top-five for nearly the entire day, constantly battling with Cup Series veterans Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick throughout the 200-mile race.

Said Wallace, “Man, I had a blast today.  These trucks are a lot of fun to drive.  We had a pretty good Red Top Auctions Toyota Tundra today, but we just fought to get it tightened up quite enough where we could hold off Kevin and Kyle for a longer period of time.

“I had a lot of fun today and want to thank Billy Ballew Motorsports and Red Top Auctions for the opportunity; I hope to be able to drive one of these trucks again really soon.

“With that said, it’s time to put my focus on getting ready for the Nationwide Series race at Bristol in a couple of weeks.  Bristol’s absolutely my favorite race track and we’ve had a really good year so far on the Nationwide side.  Today’s run just gives us even more momentum heading to Bristol.”
