Logano Carries Mario Kart Wii Paint Scheme for California

In three previous Nationwide Series starts at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., Joey Logano has a victory, as well as third and sixth-place finishes. His win in October 2009 was his sixth career Nationwide Series victory and came after starting from the pole. Logano and the GameStop Toyota team finished seventh at the season-opening race at Daytona.   What Joey’s SayingWhy do you think you’ve been so good at Auto Club Speedway?: “The main thing is Joe Gibbs Racing builds awesome speedway cars. That really shows up a lot at racetracks like Fontana. It’s the whole package, from the aerodynamics of the bodies to the set-up of the car. We have always had a good set-up for the GameStop car, and the more laps I’ve turned there, I’ve gotten better.”   The track is very wide. Does that put more control in the hands of the driver?: “It’s not much more on the driver than any other track we race. In the Nationwide cars, it’s always fastest to stay in the bottom lane – that’s where you want to be. But, because the track is so wide, if you car is not working there, you can move up to the second or third lane… even the fourth or fifth lane it seems! It’s cool when you can go to a variety of grooves depending on how your car is handling.”   You won the most recent Nationwide Series race here. Does that help you for this week?: “No question that if you go in as a previous winner at any track, it really helps your confidence. We had a super GameStop Toyota there (last October), and we passed a lot of cars to win. That helps the confidence of the whole team.”   What’s Joey Playing This Week?:  The No. 20 GameStop Toyota will carry the colors of Nintendo’s Mario Kart for the Wii gaming system. The game is available at GameStop locations across the country or at GameStop.com.
